Carl Weber will host a one-man comedy show, The Bloem Boykie Diaries, at the The Pizza Shack in Ottery on Friday March 31.
Directed by Stuart Taylor and produced by The Comedy Knights, the show is an account of Carl’s journey as a farm boy coming to the big city.
“My decision to move to Cape Town was on a complete whim. By the time I moved to the Mother City, I had no job and nothing lined up and was looking for life to show me a sign as to what I was meant to do next,” he says.
“I think it is important for people to hear and know my story as I didn’t set out to do comedy initially. I was at the lowest point in my life and ended up going to an open mic night event, and when I watched how the aspiring comics enjoyed being on the stage, and how the audiences reacted to that form of comedy, that’s when I realised that comedy was the calling I had been searching for all my life.”
Carl says this story is filled with “a roller-coaster of emotions”.
The Bloem Boykie diaries debuted at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown last year.
Tickets cost R100 each at the door and online through Quicket. You can also reserve tickets by emailing info@thecomedyknights.com or call Ryan Carelse on 082 042 3974.
