Canal Walk Shopping Centre will once again be the “cool” place to be this festive holiday season, as it hosts the “Ice Adventure” until Sunday January 8, from 10am to 10pm (with the exception of Christmas day, Sunday December 25).
A pack of interesting Ice Age animals have elected to set-up home in the Centre Court at Canal Walk. Eager to meet busy bodies and curious minds, are a collection of woolly mammoths, sabre-toothed tigers, a terra bird, including a magical Irish Elk. Two of the visitors – the Glyptodon and the Uintatherium have even agreed they will take youngsters for a ride around the Ice Adventure arena.
For the more active, there will once again be plenty of thrilling fun with a variety of icy slides. A four-metre high “iceberg”, a double-lane glacier and even an icicle (for the not so brave), will complement the snow zone where, little ones can demonstrate their creative flair with a bucket and spade building snowmen (and women), igloos, or shelters for the pre-historic visitors to their hearts content.
To get the inside scoop on what it might have been like way back when and to make these cool animals feel a little more comfortable, Canal Walk has created a “sub-zero ice chamber” that contains a frozen waterfall, which will blow back the hair with a sound-filled wind experience.
Tickets, which range from R30 to R80 each, can be bought online through Computicket or at the booth at the centre.
Sessions are 45 minutes each and start every hour on the hour.
Southern Mail has a set of four tickets to give away. All you have to do to enter is SMS your full name and surname to 34445 along with the keyword SMIce before 10am on Friday December 23. Winners will be notified telephonically.
