The Arendse family had their first braai reunion, at the Old Apostolic Church, in Cafda, on Saturday August 4.
The family are mostly from the Cafda area.
Christopher Arendse, who started this initiative, said family should be appreciated.
He said the terrible shootings that have taken place over the past few months made him realised that, “We needed love. But, it begins with us and our immediate families because if you don’t love your family, how can you love others?”
Mr Arendse said he had a dream about his late uncle Tom who spoke to him and reminded him of his last dying wish to have the reunion.
“He always wanted an Arendse reunion where he could to see the Arendses from all over the country.”
At the reunion, families from three different generations, from as far as Pretoria, George, Hawston, Paarl, Ocean View, Lotus River and Grassy Park attended the event.
