Checking on progress

The safety and security; and social services portfolio committee at Pelican Park clinic.

The City of Cape Town’s safety and security; and social services portfolio committee visited Pelican Park clinic to check on the building process of the new facility. The committee also visited Klip Road clinic to see the clinic in operation. Richard Bosman, the City’s executive director of safety and security, said the committee was exercising their oversight role to check on the progress of the project. “It shows that they don’t just sit at the committee but that they come out and do onsite investigations,” said Mr Bosman. The multi-party committee meets monthly to give various departments within the directorates the opportunity to provide feedback on their financial and service delivery progress. Building on the R40-million Pelican Park clinic will hopefully be completed by February next year as there have been some delays because of rain and the national steel sector strike.
