Pupils at Christian David Moravian Primary School are now warmer, thanks to the women from the Steenberg Seventh Day Adventist Church in Coniston Park who knitted almost 500 scarves for them.
The scarves, which are navy blue to match their school uniform, were handed over last Friday, July 28.
Peter Stemmet, personal ministries co-coordinator and representative of Steenberg Seventh Day Adventist Church, said the project was part of a partnership they are building with the school.
“We have adopted this school as family and want to engage in future projects and we will sit with management as we want to see growth and youth development.
“We urge these kids or even their parents, if there is a crises, on Tuesdays from 9am to noon, we have a counsellor on duty and a church pastor who wants to lend a helping hand,” said Mr Stemmet.
Acting principal Reginald Hans was happy with the donation.
“From the school’s side we are elated, this is the beginning of a wonderful working relationship as it will be an advantage to the kids.”
