Steenberg police bid farewell to five officers last week, including Warrant Officer Nichol Brandt who left after 32 years of service at the station.
Four of the officers, Captain Nicolene Davids, Captain Delmore Manuel, Captain Jeremy Ely and Captain Lorenzo Johnson, have been promoted and will be transferred to other stations.
Captain Davids was sector commander for Heathfield and will take up her post at Bellville while Captain Manuel, who was the designated officer for fire-arms and liquor, will take up his new post in Milnerton.
Captain Jeremy Ely, from supply chain management, is heading to Philippi and Captain Johnson of Steenberg Detectives will take up his post in Lentegeur.
Detective Warrant Officer Brandt was stationed at Steenberg station for his whole career.
A senior administrative clerk, Desiré van den Broeck was also promoted to a higher post.
Visible Policing Head Lieutenant Colonel Adriaan Saulse and Detective Branch Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Murphy Papa, congratulated the dedicated officers and wished them well on their way forward.
Station commander Colonel Jan Alexander wished the officers well and said they will be missed.
