Five people were arrested for the possession of stolen goods in Hanover Park on Sunday August 23.
The City’s Law Enforcement LEAP officers received a tip-off regarding suspected theft at Shoprite in Hanover Park.
CCTV footage showed a woman, who was seen selling the alleged stolen goods, on the road near the store.
The officers followed up and found four men aged 21, 32, 38, 52 and a 35-year-old woman.
The group was taken to the Philippi police station.
Metro police spokesperson Wayne Dyason said: “Some of the alleged stolen items, namely cigarettes were recovered and handed over to the police. The community’s involvement along with invaluable support from other enforcement agencies is applauded.”
