Upcountry Feeding Hands is running a Ramadaan meals programme.
According to Ieghsaan van der Schyff, the group’s chairman, they have been distributing meals made from donated ingredients in Seawinds, St Montague Village, Lavender Hill, Retreat, Grassy Park, Lotus River, Eagle Park, Ottery, Phumlani, New Horizon, Manenberg, Lentegeur, New Woodlands, Newfield Village and Klapmuts.
“We desperately appeal to the community for any assistance in cash or kind,” he said.
They were cooking for 47 soup kitchens, but needed support from the public to keep the project going, he said.
“On Friday and Mondays we will be cooking for soup kitchens in Ottery, New Horizon, Grassy park, Lavender hill and Bonteheuwel.”
