Grace Community Projects, a Christian-based organisation, in Lotus River, teamed up with Upcountry Feeding Hands, from Ottery, to help residents whose shacks burnt down in Smallville, Schaapkraal, three weeks ago.
Annelise Kallis, founder of the project said: “This fire started two days after the fire in Phumlani Village. We’ve received donations from family and friends after we shared it on our Facebook page.”
The organisations handed out clothing.
Ms Kallis said she started the organisation five years ago when she saw the need in the community and started feeding people at churches. “I also mainly wanted to teach my daughters the value of life.”
