Grassy Park police targeted crime hotspots and drug dens during a crime prevention operation on Thursday March 17 in Lotus River, Parkwood, New Horizon, Ottery and the broader Grassy Park area.
Two men, aged 39 and 50, were arrested in Kershout Street, in Lotus River, for dealing in liquor without a permit or licence, at about 10.15am.
Police confiscated over 100 litres of liquor that would have been sold illegally.
The men appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on a charge of dealing in liquor without a licence.
In a separate incident, Metro police, in conjunction with Grassy Park police, were busy with a roadblock in Victoria Road, Grassy Park, at about 13.25pm, when they received information of a suspicious vehicle with three men in 2nd Avenue, Grassy Park.
The men were searched and a gun was found in their possession. The serial number of the gun had been filed off.
The men were arrested and appeared at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of a prohibited firearm.
The station Commander Colonel Shawn van Wyk said the precinct is working tirelessly to maintain their zero tolerance approach to crime in the area.
