Vigilant officers attached to Grassy Park police precinct confiscated guns and ammunition and arrested four suspects last week while conducting patrols in the area.
The officers were patrolling in Perth Road, Grassy Park, shortly after 2am on Thursday March 26 when they noticed a man standing outside and upon engaging with him, he informed them of a white VW Polo with men who had guns in their possession.
The officers acted on this information and searched for the car. They found and pulled the car over on the corner of Oystercatcher and Tinkerbird roads in New Horizon.
The car was searched which led to the discovery of a Norinco 9mm firearm with five rounds, one magazine, a Vector 9mm with 16 rounds and one magazine and a gas gun.
Four suspects, three aged 29 and another aged 27, were arrested on charges of possession of illegal firearms, possession of ammunition, possession of a prohibited firearms and possession of an imitation firearm.
Provincial police spokesperson, Captain FC Van Wyk, said the suspect will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges.
