Steenberg police are calling on the community to help with a murder investigation.
The shooting incident took place in Chad Road in Lakeview, Retreat at about 7.20pm, on Sunday July 11.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said they were called out to a scene where two foreign nationals, both aged 38, had been shot.
One of the men had been killed, with the other had been injured
“Officers found the body of a male with a gunshot wound to his neck lying on the ground. He was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel.
“The other victim was taken to a medical facility with a gunshot wound to his left upper arm. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.”
The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. Cases of murder and attempted murder have been opened for investigation. Anyone with any information about this shooting incident can contact Steenberg SAPS on 021 702 9000 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
In a separate case, police arrested a Lavender Hill man for the possession of drugs at about 6pm on the same day.
Officers from the Steenberg Crime Prevention Unit arrested the 32-year-old suspect who was in possession of crystal meth (tik), in St Christopher Avenue, Lavender Hill.
Officers had noticed a suspicious looking car and attempted to pull it over, but the driver sped off.
Police gave chase and managed to stop the driver in St Christopher Avenue. When they searched the car, they found a packet containing crystal meth which weighed 98.5 grams and had an estimated street value of about R7 000.
The suspect appeared in Wynberg Magistrate’s court on Monday July 12 on drug-related charges.
