Help cops solve murder case

Police have called on the community to come forward with any information which may help their investigation into the murder of a woman whose body was found dumped in Weltevreden Road, Philippi, on Tuesday August 25.

Philippi SAPS spokesperson, Captain Lance Goliath, said police were on the scene at 9.45am after the woman, possibly in her mid-20s, was discovered in a black wheelie bin on Lorraine Poultry Farm in Philippi.

“The cause of her death is yet to be determined and the suspect or suspects are still unknown at this stage,” he said.

Meanwhile, in Cafda, quick work by officers with Steenberg SAPS’ crime prevention unit led to the arrest of a man on drug-related charges on Saturday August 29.

At about 11pm on Saturday officers executed a search warrant at a house in Komlossy Street in Cafda Village, where they found 39 packets of tik, 40 mandrax tablets, five packets of crushed mandrax powder, 105 dagga stoppe and an undisclosed amount of money.

The 36-year-old man was detained and appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday August 31.
