Steenberg police are calling on anyone with information about a shooting in Lavender Hill, to come forward.
On Wednesday June 2 officers were called to the scene of a shooting on the corner of Military Road and Depsiton Crescent at about 12.30pm.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said when they arrived at the scene they found the body of a 51-year-old man next to his motorcycle with a gunshot wound to the head.
“It is alleged that the deceased was approached by two unknown suspects who shot at him. He was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. The motive for the shooting is unknown.”
The following day, Thursday June 3, a 52-year-old man was killed when he was shot in St Thomas Street in Lavender Hill at about 4pm.
Two other men aged 23 and 31 years old were also shot and injured in the incident.
“When police arrived on the scene they found the victims lying on the scene with gunshot wounds to their head, body and legs,” said Sergeant Twigg.
The 52-year-old man was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel and the motive for the shooting is believed to be gang-related.
The suspects who fled the scene are yet to be arrested.
