Two people were arrested last week thanks to work by alert radio control police officers and the K9 Unit.
At around 8.50am on Friday July 20, the K9 Unit responded to information received via a tracking system of a hijacked car in Vrygrond.
After obtaining the co-ordinates of the vehicle, the officers headed to Harmony Close in Vrygrond, where they located a white Toyota Hilux. Two men jumped out of the vehicle when they spotted police but the officers followed and caught them.
The vehicle had been hijacked at 8.15am in School Way, Retreat, while the driver was making milk deliveries.
The two suspects aged 19 and 26, residents of Vrygrond and Seawinds respectively, were detained at Muizenberg police station on charges of possession of stolen goods with the possibility of linking them to the hijacking after investigation.
Lieutenant Colonel Deidre Engelbrecht, acting station commander of Muizenberg police station, complimented the officers on their speedy response and congratulated them on a job well done.
