The class of 2019 has impressed with their results which showed an overall provincial improvement from the previous year.
The country’s overall pass percentage is 81.3% – a 3.1% improvement on the previous year.
The Western Cape has maintained an above 80% pass rate, achieving an increased percentage pass rate from 81.5% in 2018 to 82.3% in the 2019 matric results.
The province has also achieved the highest percentage of
distinctions in the country, with an increased number and percentage of Bachelor passes – 21 981 candidates achieved a Bachelor pass, equalling 43.6% of candidates, compared to 42.3% last year.
Debbie Schäfer, MEC of Education, congratulated the class of 2019 on their pass rate and said she is pleased with the province’s pass rate, “Especially given the difficulties that we are facing as a
result of inadequate funding and safety concerns. I would like to congratulate all our learners, teachers and administrative staff, who have put in an immense effort.”
Here are all the results of schools in the Southern Mail distribution area:
* Christel House South Africa’s pass rate decreased from 100% to 90.2%.
In 2018 50 pupils wrote and all passed and in 2019 41 pupils wrote and 37 passed.
* Crestway High School’s pass rate decreased from 70.7 % to 66.3%.
In 2018 82 pupils wrote and 58 passed and in 2019 86 pupils wrote and 57 passed.
* Fairmount High School’s pass rate decreased from 80% to 73.6%. In 2018 110 pupils wrote and 88 passed and in 2019 87 pupils wrote and 64 passed.
* Grassdale High School’s pass rate decreased from 93.3% to 85.1%. In 2018 120 pupils wrote and 112 passed and in 2019 121 pupils wrote and 103 passed.
* Grassy Park High School’s pass rate increased from 72.6% to 78.7%. In 2018 146 pupils wrote and 106 passed and in 2019 122 pupils wrote and 96 passed.
* Heathfield High School’s pass rate increased from 63.2% to 75.7%. In 2018 133 wrote and 84 passed and in 2019 111 wrote and 84 passed.
* Immaculata High School’s pass rate increased from 87.6% to 94%. In 2018 89 pupils wrote and 78 passed and in 2019 83 pupils wrote and 78 passed.
* Lavender Hill High School’s pass rate increased from 78.1% to 89.9%. In 2018 114 pupils wrote and 89 passed and in 2019 89 pupils wrote and 80 passed.
* Lotus High School’s pass rate decreased from 67.7% to 59.3%. In 2018 31 pupils wrote and 21 passed and in 2019 27 wrote and 16 passed.
* Pelican Park High School’s pass rate decreased from 91.7% to 88.1%. In 2018 120 pupils wrote and 110 passed and in 2019 134 wrote and 118 passed.
* Sibelius High School’s pass rate increased from 71.9% to 72.6%. In 2018 89 pupils wrote and 64 passed and in 2019 124 wrote and 90 passed.
* South Peninsula High School’s pass rate decreased from 99% to 95.2%. In 2018 200 pupils wrote and 198 passed and in 2019 167 wrote and 159 passed.
* Steenberg High School’s pass rate decreased from 83.6% to 74.7%. In 2018 177 pupils wrote and 148 passed and in 2019 170 wrote and 127 passed.
* Wittebome High School’s pass rate decreased from 81.6% to 69.4%%. In 2018 125 pupils wrote and 102 passed and in 2019 147 wrote and 102 passed.
* Wynberg High School’s pass rate decreased from 92.7% to 89.1%%. In 2018 123 pupils wrote and 114 passed and in 2019 92 wrote and 82 passed.
* Zeekoevlei High School’s pass rate increased from 77.2% to 95.6%%.
In 2018 92 pupils wrote and 71 passed and in 2019 68 wrote and 65 passed.
