The festive season is upon us and although it should be a time of enjoyment and relaxation for everybody, it is a time when criminals seize their opportunities.

It is with this in mind that Muizenberg police will be increasing their visibility in all areas of the precinct.

Specific attention will be paid to the use of alcohol on the beaches as well as at illegal shebeens.

Patrols have been launched at various holiday spots to engage with visitors and make them aware of safety and security.

There will also be roadblocks and vehicle check points to enforce compliance with the Road Traffic Act.

Police said this is done in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies, with specific attention being paid to those driving under the influence of alcohol as this is a concern over this period.

An increased police visibility at the beaches to prevent any form of antisocial behaviour will be in effect on all public holidays. Anyone found to be consuming alcohol on the beach will be arrested.
