Since 1961 the children of Kannemeyer Primary School have been sitting on the floor, through rain and shine, but on Thursday April 20, there was light at the end of the tunnel, as the school opened its new hall.
The facility was built thanks to partnerships between the Garden Cities Archway Foundation, the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) and a host of private citizens, many of whom have donated from their own pockets or raised funds for the hall.
“We believe that this facility will be the rallying point where citizens will gather, their hearts beating as one, and encouraging our children to developed holistically and reaching their full potential in order to make a difference themselves in the lives of others and future generations,” said principal Ridwan Samodien.
