Man caught with copper and drugs

Drugs found at a home in Pelican Park.
A 19-year-old man was arrested for the possession of drugs and stolen property in Pelican Park yesterday.

Metro police’s gang and drug task team followed up on a tip-off of possible delivery of stolen items and drugs at a residence in Starling Road.

Upon arrival, they saw a man coming out of the premises with a backpack.

They searched him. In his backpack, they found one half mandrax tablet and approximately 10 metres of copper electrical cable.

He could not account for the copper.

The officers went on to search the house and found two baggs of dagga and 21 packets of tik buried in the backyard.

The suspect was taken to Grassy Park police station and the drugs were handed over to the police.
