Mission accomplished

When Megan Petersen “graduated” from Grade R at Harmony Primary, in Steenberg, in 2000, Roy Erfort, the principal at the time, asked her and the other pupils what they wanted to be when they grew up. As Mr Erfort capped Megan, she told him she wanted to be a lawyer. When Megan graduated with her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Western Cape last week, one of the people she wanted to share the happy news with, was the former principal who had mentored and inspired her. So, donning her graduation gown and mortarboard, she went to visit Mr Erfort at his home in Fairways on Sunday April 8. Megan, who lives in Grassy Park and finished her high schooling at Grassy Park High, is currently furthering her studies at UWC. She plans to follow a career in Children’s law and aims to work for the United Nations one day. Pictured in a celebratory mood are, from left, Megan’s father, Michael Petersen, Megan, and Roy Erfort.
