The motive for the murder of “a very nice lady” in Capricorn has police stumped.
Busiswa Ndabezimbi sustained a gunshot to the head and died at a house in Kakabantu Street on the evening Sunday August 13. Another woman was shot in the chest and taken to hospital.
Muizenberg police spokesperson Captain Stephen Knapp said three men entered the property and started shooting but no motive for the killing has yet been confirmed and there have been no arrests.
Community leader Mymoena Scholtz from the NPO Where Rainbows Meet Training and Development Centre said it is a tragedy that women were still being attacked and killed in Women’s Month – when women are supposed to be celebrated.
“It is very sad that this brutal murder occurred during Women’s Month because it feels like our women are not safe. We don’t know why she was murdered or what the circumstances were but she was a very nice lady.”
Ms Scholtz said there hasn’t been much development in the case.
“We are not happy that there isn’t much attention brought to her murder because it means that women are just being brutally murdered and nothing is being done about it.
Anyone with information about the shooting can contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Bonita Campher, on 084 781 0936.
