The man accused of killing a six-year-old girl and her nanny in a hit-and-run accident was released on R5 000 bail last week.
The man appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court to face two charges of culpable homicide.
Shalynn Arendse, 6, of Strandfontien, and Maureen Abrahams, 67, of Lotus River, were mowed down in Strandfontein Road, near 5th Avenue, at about 2.40pm on Thursday September 27.
Grassy Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Wynita Kleinmsith said: “The two victims were knocked down by the suspect in a white Golf MK3, who jumped the robot and drove on without stopping. Shaylynn died on the scene and Maureen was transported to hospital with serious injuries but died at the hospital. The registration number plate was found on the scene and it was tracked to the suspect.”
