Residents of Zeekoevlei welcomed the construction of a fence separating the footpath and canal which they say will help prevent criminal activities. Resident Michelle Solomons said: “Thank you very much to the City of Cape Town, we as a community feel much safer now, especially the women and children. The fence is also in honour of Ian Bonfig and Carmilita Poole who lost their lives due to cancer. They would have been extremely happy about the fence.”
