Nurses had their moment in the spotlight at the Lotus River day hospital, on Friday May 17, in honour of International Nurses Day on May 12, the anniversary of the modern founder of nursing Florence Nightingale’s birthday. The celebration of the nurses’ efforts was organised by the hospital and the Lotus River Parkwood Health Committee. The nurses were praised for their hard work and dedication, and they each received a gift. “We were acknowledged and we were also reminded of the need for self-care and self-compassion to be able to serve the community with love, dedication and compassion,” said facility manager Gaironessa Jones.
