A 31-year-old man was arrested for robbery when officers recognised him from video footage.
Police were called out to a business robbery at Food Corner in Fairways on Wednesday August 23, at about 2.10pm.
The shopkeeper said the man, who is believed to be a Parkwood resident and affiliated to gangs, entered the shop and threatened him with a firearm, demanded his Samsung Galaxy S3 cellphone (valued at R5 000) and then fled the scene.
Grassy Park police’s crime intelligence officers viewed the video footage of the robbery, recognised the suspect and went to his address in Parkwood, where he was found in possession of the cellphone.
He was arrested on a charge of business robbery will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court.

* On the same day, at about 9pm, 43-year-old, Neil Delcarmie of Dover Road, Muizenberg died while he was driving home along Prince George Drive, in his black Opel
Corsa.
He died behind the wheel of the vehicle when he stopped at the traffic lights on the corner Joe Marks Boulevard and
Prince George Drive, Lavender Hill, A passer-by, from Lavender Hill, flagged down a passing police vehicle and an ambulance was summoned. Mr Delcarmie was declared dead on the
scene.
It is unknown at this stage what the cause of death was and Steenberg police have opened an inquest docket.
