A man was arrested for possession of an illegal gun and ammunition.

Tip-offs last week helped police arrest two men for the possession of a gun, drugs and ammunition.

A 23-year old Seawinds man was caught with 14 mandrax tablets and 39 sticks of dagga at a house in Mountain Road, Overcome Heights, on Thursday August 30, at about 5pm.

He was arrested by Muizenberg police and charged with dealing in narcotics.

Lieutenant Colonel Mzwandile Gqabi, acting station commander of Muizenberg SAPS, was pleased with the drug bust and arrest and reiterated the importance of the community working with the police and providing them with information.

In a separate incident, Steenberg police arrested a 27-year-old man for the possession of an unlicensed gun and ammunition.

Officers responded to a shooting in Cafda on Wednesday August 29, at 9.40pm.

Police followed up on information from residents about the description of the suspect and the direction they ran in.

After a short chase, officers stopped the culprit in Oboe Street in Retreat and found him in possession of the gun and 16 rounds of ammunition.
