Police clamp down on drug dealers

Lansdowne police arrested three people for being in the possession of drugs last week, thanks to tip-offs from residents.

One man was caught with R50 000 cash, 35 mandrax tablets, 37 packets of Unga and four grams of tik with a street value of R1 000.

The officers were patrolling at Aylesbury Place in Muller Road, Wetton, on Wednesday January 17, at about 12.50pm when residents warned them that they were being monitored by a man near a corner shop.

Officers found and searched the man who was carrying the drugs in a yellow plastic bags. Two other men were also found in possession of drugs and all three appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court. The men live in Aylesbury Place and Becott Road in Wetton.

Lansdowne acting station commander Lieutenant Colonel Eunice Ntubula said the police would leave no stone unturned to eradicate drugs and drug trafficking in the precinct. He urged the community to continue informing police about criminal activities.
