Kannemeyer Primary School in Grassy Park was given a make-over on Saturday July 29, as part of a Mandela Day initiative.
Principal Ridwan Samodien said this was the second year PPS Investments had “adopted” their school.
The toilets and park benches were painted, the garden path beautified and the company provided toiletries for each classroom as well as jungle gyms.
“Each pebble was hand-painted by the pupils and then used to make up the path,” said Mr Samodien.
He said he teaches the children different values and painted the hallways in different colours and called it names such as Caring Avenue, Hall of Hearts, etc.
He said he appreciated the company’s efforts to keep the school in shape. “The school needs regular maintenance and it is very expensive to maintain.”
