Pelican Park High School hosted its inaugural Grandparent Appreciation Day on Sunday December 5 to honour 50 grandparents and recognise the invaluable role of seniors.
Shariefa Clark, acting principal, said the pupils pampered the seniors with manicures.
“There were medical check-ups conducted by a local pharmacy, a three-course meal was provided, a food hamper was gifted to each grandparent, there was live entertainment featuring a band as well as entertainment provided by the learners.
“This special day was organised to give back to our community and recognise the invaluable role of our seniors, many of whom are caregivers to our learners. Acknowledging the challenges they face, we aimed to provide them with a day of joy, relaxation, and appreciation — and we achieved just that.”
Ms Clark thanked teacher Rabia Mukkadam and her team together with the pupils for ensuring the event’s success and all the sponsors for the generous contributions.
