Steenberg police have advised people not to allow any illegal property or substances into their homes after a 76-year-old woman was taken in for questioning when a shotgun and ammunition were found in a Lavender Hill house.
Steenberg police received a tip-off on Tuesday November 22 that an illegal firearm was being kept at a house in Eltister Road.
The officers searched the premises and found a black rifle bag which contained a shotgun and two shotgun rounds of ammunition.
The serial number of the shotgun had been filed off.
The 76-year-old woman who was in the house was taken to the sta-
tion for questioning and later released.
Steenberg police spokesperson Warrant Officer John Bartlett has requested that residents not keep or accept illegal property at their homes as they will be arrested.
