Police are still searching for three men who were involved in a brazen robbery at Bona Fast Foods in Victoria Road, Grassy Park, last week.
Customers hoping to get a quick late night meal at the popular take-away were ambushed by three armed men on Tuesday April 11, around 9pm.
Grassy Park police spokesperson Constable Carol Strauss said the men entered the shop and forced customers into a corner.
“They then demanded cash from the safe and pistol whipped one staff member and demanded the owner’s and a customer’s vehicles’ keys. The suspects fled with a black BMW M5 which belongs to the manager and with a customer’s silver Ford Focus,” said Constable Strauss.
An undisclosed amount of money was also taken and a case of armed robbery was opened at Grassy Park station.
One customer, who did not want to be named, arrived to buy food and found the shop closed.
“I am a regular at Bona and that evening I was going to pop in and get something to eat but then I saw the doors were being closed. It was strange because they never close that early and there were still people in the shop so I turned back not knowing that there was a robbery in progress.”
“We frequent the place so much one wouldn’t think that something like that could happen,” he said.
Station commander Colonel Shawn van Wyk appealed to anyone with information to contact the station. Call investigating officer Constable Noordien on 074 437 6909 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111. All information will be treated as highly confidential.
