Science boffins

Six pupils from South Peninsula High School who took part in the International Science Fair (ISF) in Johannesburg achieved medals for their research projects. Grade 10 pupils Imaan Dudukay and Lindiwe Trout-Naidoo obtained a gold medal for a project which looked at the impact of radio frequencies on plant growth. They were also category winners in Plant Sciences. Moreover, both pupils will be interviewed for a potential international trip to a science fair either in Taiwan or America. Saamiyah van Niekerk, also in Grade 10, obtained a silver medal for a project on renewable energy. Her project looked at generating electrical energy from sound vibrations. Saamiyah was also a category winner at ISF. Three other pupils, Taahir van Niekerk, Grade 8, Waseelah Edwards and Caitlyn Benjamin, both in Grade 10, obtained bronze medals.
