Pupils from Sibelius High School brought the spirit at this year’s Marimba Jam Eisteddfod.
Two teams from the school’s marimba band participated in the competition, which is hosted by NPO Marimba Jam, and received the community spirit award. The award is given to the school whose band members best demonstrate and embody the NPO’s motto “finding harmony in community” at the event.
The eisteddfod is an inter-school and inter-band marimba competition.
Teacher and facilitator Enrico Hartman said both of the school’s teams performed remarkably well considering it was their first Marimba Jam Eisteddfod.
“The teams managed to win the coveted award, because of the team’s amazing team spirit and outstanding vibe. We are immensely proud of these students as their hard work is really putting the school on the map, culturally and musically.”
He thanked the Marimba Jam NPO for coaching pupils and thanked the parents of the pupils for their continued support.
“We look forward to more great achievements from our marimba bands in the future,” said Mr Hartman.
