Tip-off leads to dagga bust in Overcome Heights

A tip from residents resulted in police making a large drug bust in Overcome Heights last week.

On Tuesday September 12, at 12.30pm, the Muizenberg police crime prevention unit received information regarding the storage and sale of dagga in the area.

Officers proceeded to the informal settlement, where a home was searched. During the raid, the officers found 405 sticks of dagga as well as loose dagga and arrested a 32-year-old woman who lived in the shack that was searched.

The woman was charged with dealing in narcotics and appeared at the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday September 13.

Colonel Ismail Daniels, sta-
tion commander of Muizenberg police, said: “These drugs were destined to reach and destroy the youth of our community and although dagga, which is often seen as a soft drug, cannot be compared to tik, it is an illegal substance and anyone caught in possession, will bear the consequences thereof.”

Anybody with information about crime is asked to contact the Muizenberg police station on 021 787 9000.

All information will be treated with the strictest confidence.
