The City’s Parks and Recreations department has been planting indigenous trees in various parts of Cape Town, and last Thursday, June 13, they planted a Trichilia emetica, an indigenous evergreen hardwood tree, at the Solid Waste Management Department in Rosmead Avenue, Wynberg. Parks and Recreation Department superintendent Danie van Jaarsveld says it is a good idea planting trees in June as the province receives a good rainfall during winter, compared to planting trees in September during Arbor week when there is less rainfall.
