New Horizon Neighbourhood Watch members grabbed their grass cutters to cut overgrown bushes on the corner of Lark and Oystercatcher roads in Pelican Park, on Saturday.
Saadiqah Ganief, the watch’s treasurer, said the bushes had been a safety hazard. “People are getting robbed in the early hours of the morning when walking to get public transport.”
Watch patrollers had also found “unsavoury characters” doing drugs in the bushes and sleeping in them, he said.
“We do not want to have a case where a child or young lady ends up being raped because no one can see nor hear what happens inside of that bush.”
