Law enforcement agencies partnered on Friday August 21 to raise awareness about Women’s
Month. Officers from Steenberg, Grassy Park, Muizenberg, Lansdowne and other police stations, the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), Law Enforcement, Traffic Services
and Metro Police came together to celebrate women, and in particular the women in these
agencies. The operation started with a roadblock along Prince George Drive where officers
and the Southern Eye Neighbourhood Watch from Lavender Hill as well as the Department of
Community Safety (DOCS) handed out pamphlets and spoke to motorists to spread awareness around gender-based violence (GBV) and other crimes committed against women.
Gift of the Givers, a disaster relief foundation, also teamed up with the agencies to deliver
non-perishable food items and blankets to old age homes, including the Douglas Murray
Home for the Aged in Retreat.
