Charl Wessels, acting chairperson of Wynberg East Neighbourhood Watch (WENHW)
To the Wynberg community, the members and patrollers of WENHW have taken the decision to cease operations and dissolve as an organisation.
We have seen many challenges but also appreciated the rewards and accolades during our tenure of serving the residents of Wynberg.
Although we are disbanding, as individuals who served, our hearts are still committed to service and on community welfare.
Through the collective effort with the residents, the funds raised have been used to promote safety and further its cause within the greater Wynberg area. Although the bulk of the funds were used to maintain the needs of the Watch covering fuel and much needed patrol refreshments, we were blessed to donate back to the residents with food parcels and care packages.
WENHW wishes to thank our supporters for the period of its operations in the community of Wynberg East. Without the support of the residents and businesses, we would not have been able to achieve what we have in the many years.
We do not take the decision to disband lightly. Despite our collective efforts toward a common goal, we have not received the necessary support and reinforcement from those entrusted with relevant portfolios. This lack of support has hindered our progress and ultimately led us to this difficult conclusion.
