Details surrounding the death of a 44-year-old woman in her Wynberg home yesterday remain unclear.
On Friday morning, all that remained were blood stains on a plant pot at the entrance to her double-storey home. Her 10-year-old daughter is believed to have been at home at the time.
Eden Safety and Security Watch member Mohammed Bester said the woman was found outside the house in Sydney Road which is between Surrey and Batts roads. He believed she was stabbed by an intruder. Wynberg police officers deployed to Sector 2, were called and promptly arrived on the scene.
Residents peered curiously from their doorways and appeared to be in shock but would not speak to Southern Mail. One woman, who would not give her name, said the mother had been stabbed inside the house multiple times and crawled into the road.
Southern Mail contacted Wynberg police’s Colonel Rufie Nel on Friday afternoon but he had already left the office. Wynberg police spokesperson Captain Ntombi Nqunqeka did not reply to email inquiries or answer her phone.
