Clive Jacobs, Lavender Hill
As a teenager I was raised in the informal settlements and promised myself, 40 years later, I will never look back. Currently I live in Lavender Hill where I find myself as an activist, advisor and humanitarian, doing outreach and sustainable development within the greater Lavender Hill/Retreat area.
I find myself doing so much everyday that my mind never shuts down as I plan my days not to disappoint anyone – especially not our teenagers who are now the most vulnerable.
Our children have no dreams as they are not given the opportunity to dream and live a normal life. They are being wiped out and killed for no reason and recruited to be part of gangs that have them do their filthy errands.
Every week we attend funerals of our youth which has become such a sad process within our society.
Our boy teens have become sitting ducks and are wiped out daily and all our politicians are too tied up to show any interest in our youth who are unemployed, some with matric certificates.
Most of our South African parents are selfish and only consider the needs of their own. What happened to your child is my child?
The government really fails our communities – black, coloured or white, our politics have become dirty.
I have decided to never sit still or be office bound but to continue this journey to make the all important differences to allow our youth to dream. I manage a project where we give a meal to hungry children in the morning, such as bread, coffee, porridge or anything that’s available.
Please allow me and my team to continue fulfilling our vision and mission to save our children because soon we will have no representation of youth.
