Sayed Ridhwaan Mohamed, Eagle Park
Over a hundred youth from various areas convened at the Cape Town Islamic Educational Centre (CTIEC) Masjidul Kareem in Eagle Park, for a special event focused on spiritual rejuvenation and physical training, on Thursday August 22.
Organised by the United Youth Movement, the monthly gathering of dhikr (remembrance of God) aims to uplift youth and maintain their connection to Islam. The evening commenced with Nasheed recitals, followed by a standing Hadra (presence) dhikr session, and concluded with jiu-jitsu and silat training.
The Cape Town Ulama Board commends the group of young men representing different tariqahs (spiritual path toward direct knowledge) for spearheading such an innovative initiative that aims to nurture the spiritual and physical well-being of the youth, particularly in the face of prevalent challenges such as drugs and gang violence in society.
The event signifies a positive step towards cohesion and empowerment within the community of Cape Town.
