Boxers from all over the Cape exchanged blows at Vibrant sports gym in Ottery on Saturday.
With no spectators allowed and full Covid-19 protocols followed, organiser Josh Cloete says he is satisfied with how proceedings went.
This was the second event hosted by Vibrant with another having taken place back in March.
“As with the first event all Covid-19 protocols were followed; only boxers and their coaches were allowed inside the event venue,” he said.
Fans did get the chance to catch the action as the tournament was streamed live on the Vibrant sport Facebook page and was viewed by more than 2000 people, which, says Cloete, can only mean great things for boxing in Cape Town.
“This can only testify to the need for competition amongst the boxers, hence the reason why Vibrant sport stepped up and decided to host these events even at a financial loss.”
The fight between Martin Booysen and Dean Promnick got the house rolling with the fast paced 3-round affair that was won by Booysen.
Keegan Allpaas was at the close of the day awarded best boxer of the day.
