Haul out your denims, and the more ripped the better, for the Ripped Genes 2018 Music Concert which takes place on Wednesday November 28 at the Artscape Theatre, featuring a host of local talent under the direction of Natalia da Rocha.
The event is a fund-raiser hosted by Retina SA Western Cape, a non-profit, voluntary organisation raising awareness of retinal blindness. Tickets cost R150 and are available at Computicket and Artscape Box Office. Pensioners and students pay R80.
It is Retina SA’s aim to include as many blind or vision impaired artists as possible to showcase their talent, so on the programme are the Athlone School for the Blind vibey marimba band, Blind Date and Michele MacFarlane.
You can visit the Retina SA Western Cape Facebook page for the full-line up of artists.
“We are very grateful to Artscape for their support of this event and for making us part of their annual Artsability Festival.
“Without their generous assistance, we would not be able to have staged this spectacular musical offering this year. “We are also thankful to Democracy of Denim, Natalia and all the artists, dancers and models who have all volunteered their services free of charge,” says Manny Moodley, chairperson, Retina SA, Western Cape.
You can also support the crowdfunding campaign on BackaBuddy where they are asking the public to donate R150 to bring a pupil from Athlone School for the Blind to attend the performance.
