Muizenberg SAPS commemorated what would have been Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday at the newly established Masakhane Initiative in Vrygrond, on Wednesday July 18. Captain Stephen Knapp, spokesperson for Muizenberg police, said Masakhane, which means to build together, was established by Albertina Ngqame and other concerned citizens in Vrygrond. “Their mission is to promote stability, peace, justice and bring hope to those who are affected by violence in their community. They also envisage to have a feeding scheme to assist the aged and those affected by HIV.” Pictured, from left: Captain Stephen Knapp, Thandile Njape, Liz Meyer, Ntombizanele Solani, Sergeant Khanyiso Tunce, Lieutenant Colonel Maggie Rossouw, Constable Davin Lotriet and Mama Albertina Ngqame, seated.
