The Parkwood Scheme community’s unemployed residents, guided by NPO, Voice of Parkwood, picketed outside the Sub-council 18 offices in Lotus River and handed over a memorandum of demands and concerns to sub-council manager, Shanen Rossouw, on Tuesday October 9. In the memorandum, the community asks the sub-council to address the high unemployment rate. They also addressed the absence of programmes and activities for unemployed youth. Ms Rossouw accepted the memorandum and the group is expecting a response within seven days.
