Police say they are clamping down on criminals thanks to tip-offs.
A Steenberg police officer received information on Saturday May 18 that gangsters were planning to shoot in Lavender Hill.
After the Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) followed up on the information they found a 22-year-old man in possession of a .22 calibre pistol in Parkin Court, Lavender Hill.
The man was arrested and appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates Court.
In another incident, Steenberg police also nabbed two suspects after they shot at police on Tuesday May 14.
Officers were patrolling in Sonata Street, Steenberg, at 9:15am when the occupants of a Mercedes Benz shot at their vehicle, damaging a fender.
The officers pursued the fleeing suspects who crashed their vehicle but were caught and found in possession of a 9mm pistol and ammunition.
The Mercedes Benz was reported stolen in Goodwood earlier this month.
The two men, aged 27 and 35, appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates Court on charges of attempted murder, possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition, possession of a stolen vehicle and malicious damage to property.
