Unsuccessful in his WBO Africa Middleweight title fight, Cristiano De Jesus Ndombassy says he will be back with a vengeance and should he get a rematch against Lukas Ndafoluma he won’t leave it to the judges next time out.
The Warrior of Faith, as he is known in boxing circles, fights under Brice Boxing Academy, and was vying for a second belt to add to his WBF International Super Welterweight which he won earlier this year.
The 12-round decision went against Ndombassy a week ago and says they should allow a rematch considering how close the decision was.
It was his forth loss in his professional career to go with his 12 wins, nine of them being stoppages.
“I’m not sure if they are going to keep their word of a rematch but his team was not very convinced they were going to win. If we run it back he knows I will knock him out, I cannot leave it to the judges this time.
“I know how to hurt him. I am really hoping for a rematch,” said Ndombassy.
With Covid disrupting the majority of sporting activities, Ndombassy wants to get as much action as he possibly can, which is part of why he went up a weight class to challenge Ndafoluma.
Before the end of this year he will have to defend his WBF belt to go along with plans of a second attempt at Ndafoluma.
“It hasn’t been easy to come back to the ring after a long layoff but thankfully I was able to come back with a win back in March,” he said.
The win in March was a split decision win against Jami Webb. He had not fought since July 2019.
The Capetonian also looks to return to his weight class at super welterweight but does not mind going back up should there be another crack at the middleweight title.
