More than 150 winter care packs consisting of a beanie, a pair of gloves and a fleece blanket were recently handed over to Haven Night shelter in Wynberg, Durbanville Schools Foundation and another community in need around Cape Town. The packs were made up by the IIE’s Varsity College Cape Town’s VC Cares (student volunteer body) as part of the campus’ Mandela Day donation initiative. VC Cares chairperson Kaelly Berkovitz said: “During Covid-19 our communities in need have been suffering and we identified a need and together we managed to help spread warmth this winter with our winter care pack initiative. VC Cares does rewarding work that helps students grow as individuals and become socially aware citizens, empowering them and those they help.”
