Mobile unit helps vaccinate Freedom Park residents

Eighty residents of Freedom Park informal settlement were vaccinated at a mobile unit which visited the area.

A mobile vaccination unit visited Freedom Park informal settlement in Ottery to make the Covid jab more accessible.

More than 80 residents got their first shot of the Pfizer vaccine earlier this month. The City’s informal settlements team had noticed large numbers of unvaccinated people at the settlement who cited transport costs as the reason for not getting vaccinated. They then decided to call in the help of the City’s health team to ensure that those residents had access to vaccinations.

The department will be going around the metropole to vaccinate people who are registered.

While getting his jab, Mansoer Cedras speaks to Mayco member for health services Zahid Badroodien and Mayco member for human settlements Malusi Booi.
