Steenberg police are investigating murder and attempted murder cases following a bloody weekend in the precinct.
On Friday May 29, at about 7.10am, a 28-year-old man was shot dead in 12th Avenue, Retreat. Steenberg police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said the officers received a complaint about the shooting incident and when they arrived at the scene they found the victim lying on the pavement with multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
The motive for the shooting is believed to be gang-related. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.
On the same day, at about 10.10am, two men were shot on the corner of St Bernard Crescent and St Blaise Street, St Montague Village.
A 21-year-old was shot and killed and a 20-year-old was shot and wounded.
Sergeant Twigg said the community heard gunshots and when they went outside they found the two victims lying on the pavement. The motive for the shooting is also believed to
be gang related. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.
On Sunday May 31, another shooting incident in Grindel Avenue, at about 8pm, left two men wounded.
The men, aged 32 and 44, were walking in the road when a white car passed them and started shooting. The men sustained injuries to their legs. The suspects fled
the scene and are yet to be arrested.
